The imperative to hide light bulbs behind lampshades is a thing of the past. Today the bulb-on-wire concept is no longer synonymous with a decorating job half-done and conveys style rather than lack of resources.
It might seem a crazy idea, but pendant lights consisting of just a bare bulb and a simple cord are becoming increasingly popular in all sorts of designs. By virtue of their simplicity (or crudeness if you prefer), they look best in modern, industrial lofts, where they accentuate the chic minimalism, but at the same time add a bit of a quirky edge to the restrained decorating scheme.

The fact that bare bulb pendants are cut out for industrial-looking interiors doesn’t mean they can’t be used in a lot more cozy arrangements, filled with patterns and bright accents. Colorful cords – hanging straight or tangled – will make the lights look fun and whimsical.

The bulb-on-wire concept can also substitute heavy chandeliers in modern, minimalist interiors. The effect is simply stunning and all it takes is a couple of eye hooks screwed into the ceiling.

Still not fanciful enough? Adorn the bulbs with funny accents (remember to get paints that are specifically made for bulbs; you can also use permanent markers) or purchase designer bulbs that will make your one-of-a-kind fixture even more hip.
